Cheng Yong is currently a clinical psychologist at a public hospital working with a range of patients from the youths to the elderly. He completed his Master in Psychology (Clinical) from James Cook University. His clinical practice draws from various modalities (e.g. cognitive, behavioural, acceptance-based, schema and career counselling).

Cheng Yong’s prior experience with the education ministry  has given him experience in the social and emotional development and career development of youths and young adults. In his work as an educator, he has received the Caring Teachers Award, and as a healthcare professional, the Best New Comer Award.

His late career switch was driven by a call to mend broken lives in the area of mental health. Drawing from his clinical practice in mental health and teaching practice in the local schools, he volunteers his time at the Asian Pastoral Institute as an instructor, counsellor and workshop facilitator and serves as a mentor to youths with CARE Singapore.
