1. Eligibility

In general, admission to the Asian Pastoral Institute is based upon Christian commitment and experience, as well as academic record.

For Pastoral Studies programmes, applicants must be baptised Christians and members (at least three years) in good standing with their churches. Applicants would arrange to have their references submit two Forms of Reference directly to the Registrar. The two references can come from a pastor /elder and one other Christian leader from their churches. Applicants must also be at least 21 years old by 1 January of the year in which they wish to be enrolled.

For Counselling and Community Work programmes, the two references can come from a pastor/church elder, Christian leader, employer and/or academic lecturer who have known the applicant for at least one year.

2. Application

For any programme application, please complete and submit the following documents to the Office of Admissions:

  1. Application for Registration form (Counselling & Community Work, Pastoral Studies, Biblical Studies, Divinity, Theology)
  2. Certified documentary evidence of examinations passed and transcripts. All certificates and transcripts must be officially translated into English if they are originally in another language.
  3. Two (2) recent identity card or passport size photographs
  4. One-time application fee of S$50.00 (cheque to be made payable to “Asian Pastoral Institute”)
  5. Two (2) completed Forms of Reference
    • For physical form, please enclose and seal each form in separate envelope and title the envelope with the name of the applicant and the programme applied for
    • For digital form, please email to registrar@api.edu.sg, and title the email subject as “Form of Reference:  Name of Candidate_Name of Programme”
  6. International students must also demonstrate that they have adequate funds for living expenses and accommodation. International students whose studies are sponsored by churches, organisations, or individuals must submit proof of financial support. If an international student is self-supporting a bank statement must be submitted.

3. Review Process

The review period for each application cycle is two (2) months for Singapore residents and four (4) months for international students. During the period of review, applicants may be required to provide additional information to facilitate the review or be called upon for an interview.

4. Success

Applicants will receive a letter of acceptance or rejection via email from the Office of Admissions. Any appeal for admission should be submitted within two (2) weeks from the date of rejection.

Successful applicants would be required to follow the instructions in the letter to prepare for their enrolment.
