Dr. Tan Gilbert

Gilbert is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management (Education) at the Singapore Management University Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He was trained in business management at the National University of Singapore and went on to pursue his PhD in management at the University of Pittsburgh under an NUS Overseas Scholarship.

Driven by his Christian faith, Gilbert’s research interests focus on leadership and organisational creativity, spirituality at work and corporate social responsibility. Gilbert has published journal articles, book chapters and teaching cases.  As well, he has participated consistently in international conferences.

Gilbert’s interest in spirituality at work and his helping ministry further led him to pursue his graduate diploma in Christian Studies and then a master of arts in pastoral counselling with the Singapore Bible College. Over the last twenty years, he has sustained his passion and commitment to grow his contribution in the intersection of the secular and spiritual spaces.

Beyond his professional commitment to training and development, both in executive education and consultancy, Gilbert volunteers actively with non-profit and Christian organisations in the area of social innovation and Christian entrepreneurship. Throughout his professional journeying, he remains focused to equip himself and to serve in raising Christian leaders for the common good.
