Dr. Elvin Xing
Elvin, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) Social Lab, possesses a portfolio of diverse professional experiences, including roles such as a Crime Analyst in the Singapore Police Force and teaching engagements with the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. Grounded in anthropology, Elvin ‘s academic journey includes rigorous training at academic institutions, culminating in an MA(Anthropology) from the University of Hyderabad, MPhil (Social Anthropology) Cambridge University, and a PhD in Anthropology from the Australian National University. As a seasoned ethnographer, Elvin has dedicated himself to immersive fieldwork, particularly in the intricate landscapes of rural and urban India.
This hands-on experience has enriched his understanding of cultural dynamics, providing a unique lens through which to examine the interplay between political, cultural, and religious identities. His research pursuits delve into the nuanced realm of identity politics, scrutinising the intricate relationships within diverse social and political landscapes. Through his extensive experience and academic grounding, Elvin aspires to contribute to the understanding of cultures and identity complexities in contemporary contexts, particularly within the realms of intercultural studies and theology.
