Dr. Tham Chee Kin

Trained as an electrical electronic engineer, Chee Kin worked with a multi-national company for six years and managed projects and technical service crews. His passion and interest in the welfare of people led him to answer the call to serve as a full-time worker in The Tabernacle Church and Missions (TCM) for more than ten years. Chee Kin became a center pastor and a senior lecturer of APIL and continues to serve as a lay associate pastor and senior lecturer until now.

In his years of service at TCM, Chee Kin developed his skills as a counsellor. He left the full-time ministry to do social work with the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA). He managed its programmes with success; SANA became the only agency that was reappointed for a second term.

Chee Kin’s responsibilities in Hougang Sheng Hong Family Service Center also involved counselling, providing clinical supervision, training and assisting the Executive Director to supervise the daily operation of the center. Chee Kin next served as an Executive Director with Singapore Planned Families Association in 2018. His main task was to revive the association with activities and services after eight years of absence from the community.

To better serve the community, Chee Kin completed his PhD in Social Psychology, working in the area of motivation. He is a registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). Chee Kin has served on the SAC Ethics Board since 2022. He is a faculty head of Health Sciences in a private institution.
