Dr. Lee Kian Cheng

Kian Cheng is a Singaporean serving as Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, School of International Affairs, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He is an affiliate faculty member of the School of Public Policy, Chiang Mai University.

Kian Cheng’s academic training span biblical and theological studies, and social sciences, with qualifications in B.Sc. (Physics), M.A. (Biblical Studies), M.Div., M.A. (Southeast Asian Studies), M.Th. (Asian Christianity) and Ph.D. (Social Sciences). Privileged with rich and diverse training, Kian Cheng optimized his contribution by integrating secular and spiritual perspectives in his teaching, academic research, pastoral, missiological and cross-cultural discipleship arenas. His interdisciplinarity has equipped him with versatility and depth as he draws missiological implications from social, economic, cultural, political, historical, religious and spiritual dimensions.

Kian Cheng is deeply committed to work out his Christian calling. He is an Associate Senior Pastor and Board Director of The Tabernacle Church and Missions, and a Senior Lecturer with the Asian Pastoral Institute. He is also a Missionary Pastor serving at Thai Tabernacle Church, Chiang Mai. His faithfulness and indomitability have been severely tested when he nursed, restored and revived the abandoned, decimated and hurting church back to health in Thailand while his family remains in Singapore. Aided by his competencies in the English, Chinese and Thai languages, Kian Cheng demonstrated his malleability in spiritual service through winning souls and making disciples with diverse national and cultural backgrounds from Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, Thai and other ethnic minorities. Kian Cheng’s passion to develop lives is evidenced in how he mentors his disciples through their study programs and ministries. His life goal is to be a covenant-keeper and be remembered by God in His commendation as a “well done, good and faithful servant.”
