Chiang Kok Weng
Chiang Kok Weng was a Public Service Commission scholar trained in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BEng, National University of Singapore). After serving as an engineer with the Ministry of Environment, he joined the full-time ministry with The Tabernacle Church and Missions, Singapore. To equip himself for the pastoral ministry, he went on to complete his postgraduate training in Theology (MTh, M.Div., Trinity Theological College, Singapore).
Kok Weng currently serves as an Associate Pastor in Shekinah Tabernacle. He is bilingual and ministers effectively in English and Mandarin, as well as, Cantonese and Hokkien. He is also able to speak in Bahasa Indonesia. He has spoken and interpreted at gospel rallies, and led mission trips to Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines. Kok Weng is the Registrar of the Asian Pastoral Institute. Besides his administrative responsibilities, he teaches courses in Old Testament, New Testament, Evangelism and Discipleship. The courses taught are highly interactive using an interdisciplinary approach.
Kok Weng has keen research interest in Old Testament Studies, Eco-Theology, Pneumatology and Comparative Studies in the areas of Chinese Philosophy and Confucianism. He has published in the Journal of Asian Evangelical Theology, Asia Journal of Theology and Madang: Journal of Contextual Theology in East Asia. He has also written songs in Mandarin that have been used in church worship services.
